The journey began with “Drive-In” testing and application sessions held in the Highland Park AJC parking lot on Manchester Street, providing a convenient and safe way for potential candidates to apply and be evaluated.

As the situation evolved, so did the approach. The operations transitioned to the streets in front of Magna Seating’s production building, ensuring accessibility for those interested in joining the workforce. Subsequently, the venue moved to the 3rd-floor conference room at the Focus:HOPE building in Detroit, showcasing the adaptability of the Highland Park AJC in adapting to the needs of Magna Seating.

The peak of innovation came with the introduction of “Drive-Thru” sessions in the Highland Park AJC parking lot. Twice a week, large cardboard boxes with the Magna Seating name were set up on a table, serving as a unique way for job seekers to drop off their resumes. This creative solution not only streamlined the application process but also demonstrated the commitment to finding practical and effective ways to connect job seekers with employment opportunities.

The collaborative efforts and assistance provided by SEMCA Michigan Works! not only helped Magna Seating overcome its staffing challenges but also translated into significant cost savings for the company in the long run.
