At ABC Warehouse in Southgate, investing in people isn’t just a philosophy—it’s a proven strategy for long-term success. Thanks to a strong partnership with SEMCA Michigan Works! and their Earnternship program (formerly known as the Paid Work Experience program), the company has helped young adults gain valuable hands-on experience and take their first steps toward a meaningful career.

One standout example is Dai Williams, a motivated and hard-working young adult who joined ABC Warehouse through the Earnternship program. From day one, Dai brought energy, curiosity, and a commitment to learning. His work ethic and positive attitude quickly earned him the respect of his coworkers and made him an integral part of the team.

Supporting Dai on his journey was Adrianna Baker, a Youth Career Development Facilitator at SEMCA Michigan Works! Southgate American Job Center, who guided him through the process. With her encouragement and mentorship, Dai gained not only the technical skills needed to succeed on the job, but also the confidence to pursue a long-term career.

“Dai’s journey is exactly why we partner with SEMCA Michigan Works!,” said Anthony Kassab, Store Manager at ABC Warehouse. “He showed up ready to grow, and with the right support system in place, he thrived. Now he’s a permanent member of our team—and we couldn’t be happier.”

After completing his Earnternship, Dai was officially hired as a full-time employee—a proud milestone that reflects both his effort and the power of opportunity.

Dai’s success is a testament to what’s possible when young people are given the chance to prove themselves. It also highlights the impact of employer partnerships that prioritize growth, mentorship, and second chances.

SEMCA Michigan Works! and ABC Warehouse continue to work together to give more young adults the chance to gain experience, grow their confidence, and build lasting careers—just like Dai.
