Ezekiel Allen-Gudith
For years, Ezekiel Allen-Gudith felt like he was drifting without direction. Struggling with depression and weighed down by a deep sense of misguidance, he found it hard to envision a future for himself. With no income, little understanding of the professional world, and challenges communicating effectively, he felt stuck and isolated by barriers that seemed impossible to break through.
Everything began to shift for Ezekiel after he enrolled in the youth program at the SEMCA Michigan Works! Monroe American Job Center. What he found wasn’t just a program—it was a support system. With dedicated guidance and mentorship, Ezekiel slowly began to learn and grow. He learned to recognize his potential, gained valuable workforce knowledge, and started taking steps to improve his emotional and financial well-being.
Week by week, his confidence grew. He developed the courage to ask for help, learned how to handle important documents like resumes and financial forms, and began to understand the power of self-advocacy. As his communication skills improved, so did his outlook. What once felt like an overwhelming wall became a doorway to new opportunities.
Today, Ezekiel is focused on building a better future. He’s setting his sights on college and dreams of working at a university—helping others find the guidance he once needed himself. He credits the SEMCA Michigan Works! youth program with helping him grow not only professionally, but personally.
