Resource highlights apprenticeship pathways, training opportunities and high-wage careers across Monroe and Out-Wayne counties.
SEMCA Michigan Works! has released its Registered Apprenticeship Guide to help residents explore career pathways that lead to skilled, in-demand occupations while helping employers build the skilled workforce they need. The resource serves as a roadmap to Registered Apprenticeship opportunities throughout Monroe and Out-Wayne counties.
Readers will find information about how Registered Apprenticeship works, how to become a registered apprentice, pre-apprenticeship opportunities, the Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certificate (MARC), and apprenticeship programs across a variety of industries. It also highlights U.S. Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship occupations across advanced manufacturing, construction, healthcare, information technology, service professions, emerging occupations and other high-demand fields.
“Registered Apprenticeship helps people build rewarding careers while giving employers a reliable way to develop the skilled workforce they need,” said Gregory Pitoniak, CEO of SEMCA Michigan Works!. “This resource helps job seekers, employers, educators and workforce partners better understand the value of Registered Apprenticeship and the opportunities it creates throughout our region.”
The Guide includes occupation descriptions, job titles, training providers, labor partners, program length, wage information and other career details, along with resources to help residents and employers take the next step toward participating in Registered Apprenticeship.
The resource also highlights the growing impact of Registered Apprenticeship across Michigan. In 2025, the state had 23,200 active registered apprentices, ranking fourth in the nation despite being the 10th most populous state. Michigan also welcomed 8,600 new apprentices and celebrated nearly 3,000 program completers.
Within the SEMCA Michigan Works! region, Registered Apprenticeship delivers some of the strongest wage outcomes in the state:
- $165,790 median wage one year after completion among 2024 completers
- $30,030 wage increase from one to five years after completion among 2020 completers
The Registered Apprenticeship Guide is available online where residents, employers and workforce partners can view the interactive Guide and download a copy.
