Important Information About Upcoming American Job Center Closures

SEMCA Michigan Works! is making changes in response to ongoing reductions in the federal funding that supports our Service Center operations. As a result, the Grosse Pointe and Livonia American Job Centers will be closing. The information below explains the closures, continued service availability, and how individuals and employers can stay connected to employment and training support.

Why are the Grosse Pointe and Livonia American Job Centers closing?

Due to ongoing reductions in federal funding, SEMCA will face a $1.4 million decrease in available funding effective July 1, 2025. Unfortunately, this reduction has forced us to make the difficult decision to close these two centers.

When will the closures take place?

  • Grosse Pointe American Job Center will close June 30, 2025.
  • Livonia American Job Center will close July 31, 2025.

Will services continue during this time?

Yes. Services at both locations will continue without interruption until the closure dates. Customers are encouraged to continue accessing services as usual.

Where else can I go for help after these closures?
