Important Information About the Southgate American Job Center Relocation
SEMCA Michigan Works! is relocating the Southgate American Job Center (AJC) to 2121 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte to better serve customers and strengthen access to employment and training services. The information below outlines the transition timeline, continued service availability, and how individuals and employers can stay connected to support.
Why is the Southgate American Job Center relocating?
SEMCA Michigan Works! is relocating the Southgate American Job Center to Wyandotte to continue providing high-quality services in a convenient location for the community.
When will the relocation take place?
The Southgate American Job Center closed Friday, February 13, 2026.
Services will resume in Wyandotte at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Will services continue during this time?
Yes. Services will continue at the Southgate location through February 13, 2026. During the transition period, customers are encouraged to visit another SEMCA American Job Center location or access services by phone.
Where else can I go for help during the transition?
Michigan residents can also receive services from any Michigan Works! agency statewide. You can continue receiving employment and training support at SEMCA’s other American Job Centers, located in:
- Dearborn
- Highland Park
- Monroe
- Wayne
- (and Wyandotte beginning February 23, 2026)

Our AJCs continue to offer:
- Career advising and coaching
- Job search and placement assistance
- Resume and interview preparation
- Training and upskilling opportunities
- Youth and young adult employment services
- Business and workforce support services

What happens to customers currently receiving services at the Southgate AJC?
Staff will work closely with customers to ensure a smooth transition to the Wyandotte location or another SEMCA center, based on individual needs.
How will employers be supported during this change?
SEMCA Michigan Works! will continue providing business services—including candidate recruitment, training assistance, and hiring support—through our remaining American Job Centers and dedicated Business Services team.
Will any other locations be impacted?
At this time, only the Southgate American Job Center is relocating. SEMCA will share updates if additional changes occur.
